Polyglactine 910(vicryl)

  • Polyglactin suture is a much superior alternative to catgut sutures since its absorption is more predictable, tensile strength is better and it exhibits little or no tissue reaction. Polyglactin suture is a braided and coated synthetic absorbable suture and is a co-polymer of 90% Glycolide and 10% L-lactide. Polyglactin 910 sutures retain tensile strength of about 70% of initial strength at 14 days of implantation
